What else can it be called when, to cite a prominent recent example, a Sotomayor suggests repeatedly that “a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.” As if a given white male’s life has no intrinsic special features or experiences of it’s own, features and experiences which a given Latina woman HASN’T lived. No– the implication is clear: Latinas’ life experiences are more valuable than white peoples’.

However I see it as a no-win situation since the economy would probably be buggered but agricultural effects of global warming. Not to mention the ecological problems caused by it.

Personally I’d prefer continued investment in cleaner technology but then again our boner for fossil fuels and big-goverment ahem I mean big-buisness to use a differant meaningless buzz word to cover a complex sitiuation ensures this line of study is limited.

In regards to Islam and womens rights, frankly I do not approve of the poor track record in comparison to contempory 20th century ideals (if not always reality). But ultimatly I’m aware that the problem isnt inherantly linked with Islam (if anything Muslims theoglogy is slightly more libaral-oh noes! about women than Christianity’s is pre-modern world) more in relation to poor shitty countries acting like poor shitty countries. For example did you know that the Burqa is actually pre-Muslim?

I have dealt with kids who have had so-called fundamentalist Christians fathers beat the living hell out of their kids and their wives. In the name of god by the way. They are no better than the Muslim fathers. Yet as you have told me, they get a pass due to “tolerance” To me they are one in the same. Using religion to justify their actions.
As far as Christians turning the country into theocracy, I hardly see that happening, or even possible. Believe what you want on that one.

In reality I would love big organic farming to outproduce the so-called corporate farming. Having fewer chemicals on our food is always better. Yet when organic food is 20 to 50% higher in cost then non-organic food where do you think the consumer is going to go?
