Dear Mr. Rawsthorne: As a family physician for over 25 years I have have had the unfortunate experience of finding out that a patient of mine had committed suicide. I don’t think that Devon committing suicide would sit well with many of your readers. My suggestion is since she seems to be always dressed in black that you should consider drawing her from this point on wearing a BURQA so that the only part of her body that shows is her eyes. The BURQA could be her way of withdrawing from a world and a society which she finds repulsive.
Let’s see how dear Devon deals with genuinely intolerant men instead of the gentle ones she mistakes for pigs. “Submission” is definitely NOT a word in her vocabulary. Seeing her convert–and then scramble to change her mind/religion–might be a hoot to observe.
