Pictures from the cars at a Lane family re-union?

    A more proper bumber sticker;

“My Daughter Believes in Gun Control –
She Gets ALL 14 Shots in the ‘Ten Ring’

  2. None of this MEANS anything, Zack. None of this is about policy. It’s about culture and stereotypes which, except for the thing about not standing up for oneself, have no real-world implications.

And what of those who have difficulty standing up for themselves? It’s not a skill everyone is born with. In school and in the workplace, there are bullies and there are victims. Victims are victims because they do not understand bullies or how their minds work, so they’re unable to stop them. Now, should they go off and learn how to physically fight, that COULD help. Or it could make things worse. There are no guarantees.

However, when life leaves you with no choice but to fight, sometimes people can discover things about themselves that they never knew.

Point is, blithely insulting people discounts a lot of realities.

    Me-thinks Zack, you ‘touched a nerve’…LMAO!

Remember those “I Brake for Animals” stickers… they were popular in Ann Arbor in the ’70’s ?
Just after I finished Ranger School, I modified a “I Don’t Brake for Communists” sticker… put “Liberals” over communist.

Honestly, I truly enjoyed the stares I got, driving around town…

“Marbles: But it’s ok when YOU “blithely insult people,” right?” And that makes it ok for you to insult people when you think that he is being insulting?

    Zack-
Next time you “…do unfunny photoshops”, would you remember to include the most common car seen in your cartoons, a Toyota Prius, with a “…unfunny photoshop[ped]” sticker about some school childs misguided accomplishment on it ?

You managed to get one Toyota car here, but sadly you decided to “…do unfunny photoshops” of a Ford pick-up, and a Ford SUV. Now, my redneck, ‘homophobic’ sensibilities just cannot tolerate you using such ‘red – white – and blue’, God-fearing-Christian American vehicles for your “…unfunny photoshops”. Just ain’t right… but I’ll fo’give you this just once,… got it ???

Now, Cobainfan69’er wants to see some real, homosexual-like looking cars, with those pansy-gay-boy stick ‘ers on ’em,… so go find us a Volvo and a Subaru Outback,… and put some “…unfunny photoshops” of some lesbo-hairy legged man-hating he-she friendly stickers on the back of them… ok?

Now, none of you enlightened libs can say I never criticized Zack’s work…

On further thunking here… Zack, I am even MORE offended at your “…unfunny photoshops”… you used a Ford F-350 -!!?!!
That is a ‘Super-Duty’, ultra-road kill-on-the-grill, uber-macho truck,… just ask Mr. Ted Nugent… and to have “My Child was Awarded TOP VEGAN” on it… just ain’t right-!!!
    That is serious red-neck heresy… b a a a aad moonshine, too!!

You need some serious penitence here Mr. Zack… tell you what, go find a VW Beetle, with some queer-friendly rainbow stickers on it,… and put some more “…unfunny photoshops” on it too.
Now, if you can manage to have two limp-wrist cream-puff’s sucking face next to it,… that might make up for you offending Cobainfan69’er ‘s being offended by those terrible “…unfunny photoshops”.
No doubt – he wants the real-deal-!!!
    ‘Nuf said-!

Hey Manny! Isn’t “Is there something you want to tell us Steve? You’re not attracted to us I hope. Is it a crush on Zack?” an insult against Steve?

Why is it you on the left can insult us on the right, but we can’t? Turn-about IS fair play, and you can dish it out but you can’t take it.

The adults are talking geeknerd. If you want it to be an insult, thats your problem, not mine.

  3. Those are funny. The sad part is that in Berzerkly you just might see them in real life… On recyclable paper of course with 100% natural inks made by free range screen printers… in a unionized shop of course.

    Manny-
    Just remember this wisdom if you are ‘on the river’ here in the South;

“…keep paddling faster if you still hear the banjo’s”

Somewhere, there is an “…unfunny photoshop[ed]” bumper sticker of this…

  4. Care:
Actually, if you read that comment of mine you responded to, there’s no actual indication of any political beliefs in there.

One of the things that makes our discourse so dysfunctional is that we’ve come to the point where we politicize EVERYTHING about each other. And it’s particularly sad that we try to score political points by taking jabs at inconsequential cultural behaviors that in and of themselves are devoid of any political meaning whatsoever, i.e. veganism, being bullied, or not believing in a deity.)

    @ cobain:
It’s not misinterpretation. It’s highly skilled, expertly learned button-pushing.

    @ geeknerd:
If you can point to any instance where I have “blithely insulted” anybody here, I will gladly apologize. But I have a feeling we’re not working from the same understanding of just what an insult is.

I believe there is never any reason to insult anyone unless they have demonstrated one of two things—active maliciousness, or what Martin Luther King once called “conscientious stupidity”—an absolute refusal to address what is being said to them and a cynical shifting of the goalposts in order to forever avoid having to defend their words on their own merits. Since this is disingenuous and disrespectful, it does not deserve any respect in return.

  5. I apologize to Care, Steve and any others who noted the innaproppriateness of some of my vehicles. What can I say, you knock these things out in a hurry, no one’s paying you a dime for it, you take a shortcut or two. But never again, jeez, you guys are unforgiving…

  6. vegas: …and I submit you might see far worse. I feel like I softpedaled it on these. things can get WAY more out of hand on a Berkeley bumper sticker. The middle one BTW is printed on hand-ironed hempcloth.

    Marbles:

Quote “The adults are talking, geeknerd.” I’ll grant you that you may not have done so “blithely,” but you did insult me as immature.

What began this tirade is my being dressed down in this blog for insulting liberals in general (and individual liberals in particular), and then being told in effect that liberals never insult conservatives individually or in general. That is patently false.

If the Left can constantly consider those on the Right to be either stupid or crazy, I can be excused for using the word “libtard” now and again. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Marbles and I are not the same person. Try again.

  7. Besides, geeknerd, even if I had made that “adults” crack while taking others to task for insults, you can’t honestly think that feigned condescention is the moral equivalent of a scathing, personal attack.

The kinds of things (some) liberals say about conservatives are simply not the same as the kinds of things (some) conservatives say about liberals (or people they CALL “liberals,” which is a whole other can of worms). Taken as a whole, there is simply not an equivalence of rhetoric, here. You can see that right here on this very comment thread, in certain potent nuggets thrown in amongst the surrouding verbage. Attacks that are, like those in the Photoshopped bumper stickers, aimed at PEOPLE rather than their politics. Again, attacks like that accomplish nothing except to keep us at each other’s throats, over shite that doesn’t even matter.
I can think of no “liberal” equivalent of those cracks that appear in the comments above. And those aren’t even that high up on the scale—which shows just how high the scale goes.
