I thought all the adults in the household recognized Allah as their lord?

As I reflect on as many of Zack’s cartoons as I can, I recall none that suggests a Muslim faith within the Alex-Allison-Sierra & Devon bunch.

Devon & Sierra are lesbians, one is a pot head too… Allison is bisexual,… and Alex is an ACLU lawyer.

They are secular leftists,… and their slobbering admiration for Obama and all the ‘Hope & Change’ worshiping has been very well represented in the past two years.

If anything, they dabble in some pagan – intellectual worship, as best I can see~

Who knows, by the time Obama gets the boot, these characters may resort to worshiping fertility figurines of Gaeas genitals ?

I would propose that with the family committed to political correctness and tolerance, I have to imagine that Islam is one of the only acceptable religions accepted within the household. Their rational for accepting this would be to raise the race card. If your against Islam your a racist, if your against Christianity your intelligent.

  1. Thanks Steve for that spot-on synopsis. And yes, you are correct in assuming the family (outside of Diversity herself) is pagan, i.e. they worship liberalism.

Ikabod: Nice analysis of modern liberalism and one of its fine-print tenets.

Cobainfan69: No– they recognize Leftism as their lord.

Is their a proper idol for Leftism? Or do they just pray to a copy of The Communist Manifesto a couple times a day?

Socialism your Ideology is a jealous Ideology; you shalt have no other Ideology before it.

  2. No need for leftists to slog through The Communist Manifesto, cobainfan69; they just say a daily prayer to Saint [Chris] Matthew.

geeknerd: –which is precisely why Obama stands little chance of moderating his stands. His jealous god would hit the ceiling were he to do a Bill Clinton in the wake of the midterm shellacking.

@geeknerd: So are there a proper set of commandments for Leftism? “Thou shalt kill thy mother or father, should it benefit the Mother Country?”

  3. Thanks “cobainfan69” (heh-heh): My admin handles these issues and has been instructed to block out snidely rude, obscene or excessively angry remarks: it just uglies up the place and nobody normal appreciates it. You guys on the left can comment here all you want if you keep it civil. When someone “disappears” from the premises you can be sure he repeatedly made an irritating pest of himself, regardless of which Comments of his you’ve read and which ones you’ve not seen because they had to be deleted. We like rational argumentation here. If you do too, fine; if you don’t, I believe there may be at least one or two other blogs you can hang out at.

I have loved this guy since Oliphant went to the liberal side.

I wish I could find my copy of “That could be a setting sun.” Way too apropos for the recent drubbing.

  4. Why does everyone feel the need to villify atheists?

    It’s a sincere question.

    Who is vilifying atheists ?

The Lane family is – what they are… two lesbians (one a pot-head), a bisexual mother (who smokes pot too) of two kids,… a pony-tail ACLU lawyer whose manhood is trapped in a feminist testicle pickle jar,… not one evangelical conservative Christian among them.

Who is trying to vilify an atheist ?

I thought that Devon was just a metrosexual male at first. Haha.

Diversity Lane is awesome. I am so ready to read more of this and to join in the making fun of these types of people. The sad thing is, is how they completely dominate our schools and the arts.

Conservative perspectives are so non-existent in the arts these days; we’ve pretty much been culturally cleansed out of everything.

Diversity Lane is so well done, from the drawings to the sounds/music. Oh how we need more of this!

  5. Come on, Steve. You know perfectly well that atheists get dumped on all the time, whether the context is political or not.
The theme of this cartoon is the familiar insinuation that liberals are godless, and godlessness is a bad thing. I’ll ignore the tired cliche of “liberals worship government.” Why do so many people have this need to villify those who believe there is no deity of any kind?

    Marbles,… Why?
” Why do so many people have this need to [vilify] those who believe there is no deity of any kind?”

Someone who believes they are not held accountable for lying, cheating, stealing… have fewer means to resist unethical behavior, and are perceived as such, compared to those who believe we are held accountable for such behavior.
Duh ??… Not too difficult a concept to grasp, right ?

Further, these same folks (of no faith) who are elected to office who swear an oath of office are merely posers… their sworn oath and stated commitment, in fact, means nothing.

Here is a sharp contrast; I know a small business owner who is in a partnership with a gentleman from India. This Indian gentleman is a Jain (a very select sub-culture in India). The Jain faith is extremely strong in its emphasis on honesty and integrity – to such a degree that it was explained to me that these are the only people some diamond merchants will use to courier their diamonds internationally. The Jain faith is so powerful and absolute, that they are trusted above the most devout of all other faiths, too.

    A few keystone examples in the past 100 years of what those who answer to nothing higher than what they find here on earth;
    – Mao Tse Tung, who holds the Guinness World Record of genocide of upwards of 60 million killed in mainland China.
    – Joseph Stalin following up with 20-30 million killed throughout the Ukraine & then, Soviet Union.
    – Hitler, by comparison was a ‘piker’,… just around 16-17 million exterminated in Europe.
    – Those several key folks in progressive movement behind what lead to Roe vs. Wade, and the resulting 50+ million abortions in the US sense 1973.
All the primary players among these four genocides… none of them were Judeo-Christian, scripture-following & believing folks. All were atheists,…

Marbles, just a reference point for you – 40 years ago, grade school kids could reflexively answer you ending question.
However old you are… the fact that you even asked this question… that ought to be a very sobering reflection for you to consider.

  6. Steve, the invoking of Stalin, Mao and Hitler in this context is a very familiar trope, and it doesn’t reveal anything. (And it’s not true of Hitler, anyway. He spurned religion per se, but he was a deist).

I am an atheist. It is very hurtful when people insinuate that just because you don’t believe in the existence of deities, you don’t feel accountable for lying, cheating, or wronging others. Honestly, it really is an awful thing to believe about people.

And it simply doesn’t have any basis in reality. Over here you have Mao, and over there you have countless millions whose belief in God (Abrahamic or otherwise) has not done anything to dissuade them from stealing, or cheating, or harming others. You simply cannot use a belief in God as a determinate factor in whether someone has moral standards. That so many people do this, and use it as a justification for villifying atheists is sad and shameful.
