    I’ve always hated this song. It encapsulates the liberal/utopian world-view which is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve because of human nature, which is immutable. In other words, an ode to a load of crap.

  1. Preston: Lennon was a great songwriter but this is a dreadful song on account of the lyrics which just as you say are idiotic. Someone more responsible should have written the words, and we would have ended up with a nice ballad instead of a hummable ode to communism-lite. I think it was Elvis Costello who called it the worst song ever written.

    The exact same argument could be to libertarianism, for the exact same reasons.
