Lets have Obama comment on this too!
I am sure he will have a useful input, at least from ACORN’s point of view!

Could one of those three “misunderstood” minority victims be La Duayne ???

Another ‘victim’ of the “white establishment”…for shame-!!!

  1. La Duayne: all ripened and mature and ready to mug. Good call, Steve, as always.

  2. isn’t that one heck of a story, Zack?

Good cartoon (so what ELSE is new!?)

Do you have a link that talks about how Professor Gates fired weapons at his house? I can’t seem to find a source to support that claim; however, that is what seems to be implied by your comic. I am sure a man of high esteem like yourself would not attempt to deliberately distort the truth, so I am certain you can provide a link to an article from a reputable source that supports your implication.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Thanks Z, and great to hear from ya. It is an amazing story, with opposing lines well-drawn, as it were. Especially instructive to me is the archetypal, hyper-pompous, humorless, self-important professorial type (Gates), incapable of behaving civilly and non-defensively like any normal person should when questioned by police, who had been summoned by concerned neighbors understandably believing that said professor was a robber (he was breaking in to a home, afterall– that’s what robbers do). A non-liberal/leftist, unpolluted by the massive soul-destruction of several decades-worth of lib/left indoctrination from nearly every corner of our mainstream media and education realms, would simply have said: “thank you for coming, officer– there’s been a somewhat absurd mistake here since I’m actually the owner of this house but had lost my keys, necessitating a break in. I can furnish you immediately with ample proof of this; please follow me while I get bills, ID, etc.” Instead, being a lib/left-indoctrinated jackass underneath the urbane and “sophisticated” Ivy leaves, he throws a grand moll self-pitying hissie fit and, albeit being among the most esteemed of individuals (of any color) in our society and living a phenomenally fruitful and privileged existence, he waxes all Victimized as if he’s in the midst of an attempted lynching in the year 1920.

Zack, in short, Gates is the perfect ACORN leader, Obama supporter, who wanted to have the Duke Lacross players puit away for life (overwelming evidence to the contrary)-?

The post-Martin Luther King race-baiting industry has left its mark. I cannot help but believe MLK would be very disturbed by this status-quo, established in part by the Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons, among others.

  4. “Do you have a link that talks about how Professor Gates fired weapons at his house?”

I am shocked — shocked! — to find a political cartoonist employing exaggeration to make his point. We must stop this novel and unfair tactic now, or we’ll soon be seeing cartoons expecting us to believe that Republicans are actually fat, slow-moving elephants; Congressmen are pigs at the trough; and Democrats are, well, jack-asses… ūüôā

Seriously, I see this cartoon as a comment on those who gave (give?) knee-jerk support to Prof. Gates, before they even knew (know?) the facts, more than a comment on Gates himself.

Glad to see you posting new work again, Zack. You’ve been missed!

  5. Steve: Of course that would make sense if that’s the case: that Gates would have been one of those to pile on the innocent men of the Duke Lacrosse team, much as the mainstream media so scurrilously did. Were it ocurring now, who knows, Obama might add in his scorn as well, though the men were 100% innocent. One more of the innumerable examples of liberal bigotry.

Good to see you here too, Wesley. And naturally you understood the cartoon immediately as an allegorical exaggeration of an aspect of the Gates situation, and not an implication that Gates is an actual criminal; you’re sane. The Cliff Notes on this, for those visitors who don’t get it, are: I’m satirizing the unwillingness of many liberals to hold Black people responsible when they behave badly, just as Whites should be held responsible when they behave badly. To do otherwise, i.e. to make excuses for them that you wouldn’t for Whites, is to patronize and in fact to display a kind of bigotry, since you are implicitly saying you don’t expect them to behave as responsibly as Whites under the same circumstances.

Betcha none of those guys the cops be gonna roust can spel worth a dam, or use punk-tuation gud, neither. ūüėČ

  6. Betcha yur rite, Norman. But I’ll bet the professor NEVER misspells a word. And that’s the important thing after all, isn’t it: that one’s spelling and punctuation be prim and proper… never mind that the CONTENT of many a college professor’s writings are rancid warmed-over variants of Marxism, rehashed and gussied up retreads of a mouldering failed philosophy.

Whomever: I dunno, I laugh at every one, while I have never laughed at a single Doonesbury.

OCL: Why is is that only leftists bring up Christ and Christianity in these comments, and always to slam them? Have you ever thought that some of us Conservatives might be Jewish, or even Eastern Orthodox?

  7. Thanks Norman, I appreciate that. I might add that Doonesbury has always struck me as an abominably poorly-drawn strip, as well; apparently Trudeau is aware of only two angles on a human being, full frontal and profile.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way this could have been handled is if the cops responding to the the call should have been black. The 911 call stating that 2 black men are breaking into the home should have been a clue to the officers. If the white officers arrived first should sat in the squad car and waited for “diversity backup” (no offense to little Diversity of course) whereas the white officer (obviously racist) would leave the area. That way the only issue would have been the Black officers had treated the brother with respect. The real issue here is that Gates is a classic example of the race industry continuing to use the racial issues as a way to get out of problems. He is not without experience with using the race card: I can only imagine Gates saw the opportunity to make his statement to the officer to show his disapproval for DARING to be lectured by this lessor man. This ignorant-non-respectful-down-home-country-bumpkin-racist-lying-white-ass-mother-F@$%&#, should have known better than to question, QUESTION this learned, respected, peace loving Harvard Professor in his own home, or rather rented…. Its not about what the cop did, this about race and questioning a liberal elitist. My question to all the libtards that frequent this site… We elected a Black President. Why do we have to continue to go through this? I’m not saying this country has left its racism behind, but crap like this learned and respected professor is not helping matter by having a racial meltdown. However there is hope. Chris Rock (a black comedian) seems to understand dealing with PoePoe:

  8. Thanks Ikabod, good stuff here. Following up on your original thought, I’m wondering if an all-races squad of cops should go out on all 911 calls; a kind of Rainbow Squadcar. We’d have an Asian, a Black, a Latino, a White, (etc.), all dressed in their respective ancestral garbs plus the requisite policeman’s cap…

  9. –“Our culture is now actively teaching racial paranoia to blacks, gender paranoia to women, and abuse paranoia to everybody with a beef. All those exaggerated fears and phony fits of rage have been cynically whipped up by the Left to grab more power. That’s their Compassion Fascism.” – James Lewis
“The current climate is perfectly symbolized by the recent Gates incident where it was not the crazy behavior of Gates that was considered abnormal and “stupid”, but reflexively that of the police officer diligently perfoming his duty.” – “Redhawk”

  10. Brilliantly spot on, both of those quotes, Cagey. Thanks.

Well it maybe looking like Crowley lied on his report. However, I still believe the learned and respected Professor, saw this a golden opportunity for his own further advancement. We’ll seel

  11. Is the excitement you feel when you get to draw strawman black criminal thugs purely intellectual, or is there a sexual element also involved?
